"He who asks a question is a fool for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask remains a fool forever"
Q: How do I become a member of the Swiss Club?
A: Read our 'membership' page. This will explain everything about our membership.
Q: Do I need to own a rifle to shoot?
A: No. The club owns equipment, and can hire it out to you. You will need a valid Firearms License to shoot unless you are booked in for one of our Trial Shoot Days. Temporary Club memberships costs & fees apply.
Q: Can I walk in one day and shoot, to try out the sport?
A: Yes, under the following conditions:
You have contacted us and booked in for one of our Trial Shoot Days, usually held on the last Sunday of every month from 11am to midday;
A form (P650) is successfully completed in the presence of a club official & identification is successful & recorded;
If you are a minor, written consent from parents or legal guardian needs to be provided as well as their ID - please note that a parent or legal guardian must be present during the entire process.
Q: What must I do to get a firearms license? A:
Pass the Firearms Safety & Awareness test.
Have a "genuine reason" to own a firearms license (e.g. club membership)
Complete the Firearms Licence application form (call the Firearms Registry on 1300 362 562 to have the forms mailed to you)
Wait for the cooling off period to elapse
Receive the letter from the Firearms Registry
RUN ('cos you've waited already so long!) to the closest RTA to have your card printed.
Note: the above may change depending on your circumstances & type of license. These are only guidelines to give you a basic idea of the process. Q: What is the Safety Test I need to do all about?
A: The current rules & regulations require you to pass a 'Firearms Safety & Awareness' test. Our club has 2 approved course instructors who will deliver this course for you.
